Minimally Invasive Facial Rejuvenation using Microneedle Fractional RF Technology
Minimally invasive Facial Rejuvenation has arrived! Radiofrequency (RF) Microneedling combines two of the best methods for collagenesis (new collagen formation) to help combat the effects of the aging where we typically lose the volume and collagen within our dermis allowing the creation of lines, wrinkles, and crinkles within our skin . Facial Rejuvenation Microneedle Fractional RF technology uses scientifically proven techniques to stimulate the production of new collagen. Our Facial Rejuvenation machine does this by delivering radiofrequency (RF) energy to the epidermis and dermis with or without Microneedling which creates microscopic openings/channels within the epidermis and dermis. Thermal energy applied to the tissue (via Radio Frequency) and the healing of the very tiny openings created by the Microneedling unit both stimulate the production of fibroblasts which in turn stimulates the production of new collagen. Both techniques (RF energy and Microneedling) are superior to microneedling alone, and have the potential to maximize tissue volume, because the combination works synergistically with each other to provide the most optimal minimally invasive Facial Rejuvenation option available.
Microneedle Fractional RF
Our Facial rejuvenation unit has two handpieces that include 1) Superficial Fractional Radio Frequency (SRF) and 2) Microneedle Fractional Radio Frequency (MRF) that uses gold-plated insulated needles. The SRF handpiece provides minimally invasive delivery of RF energy to the epidermis and dermis with its unique dual channel delivery system. The first channel delivers a deeper zone of controlled thermal effect, while the second channel provides micro ablation of the upper layers of the epidermis and mild coagulation. Working in combintation, the two distinctive channels result in potentially more luminous skin, controlled tightening, and possible scar revision. The MFR handpiece creates precise and controllable coagulation zones deep within the dermis. This provides a 3-dimensional delivery of energy, maximizes skin volumization, provides skin tightening and facial rejuvenation and skin rejuvenation, and offers a more comfortable procedure thanks to the latest flow needling technology. Depth control allows for customized treatments for delicate areas, like the forehead and perioral areas, and can deliver multiples passes. The insulated microneedles deliver the RF energy precisely, so there is virtually no thermal damage to the epidermis. Unlike many laser options, facial rejuvenation using insulated microneedles to deliver microscopic openings into the dermis and controlled coagulation can be used in patients with almost all skin types.
What can be treated with Superficial Fractional Radio Frequency (SRF) and Microneedle Fractional Radio Frequency (MFR)?
Facial Rejuvenation using Microneedle RF Technology creates controlled openings within the epidermis and creates a microscopic channel to the dermis where cosmeceuticals can be delivered during the immediate post treatment phase.
Epidermal Growth Factors stimulate cell growth at the cellular level
Hyaluronic Acid locks moisture into the tissue keeping it moist and healthy reducing fine lines and wrinkles
Antioxidants “mop up” these free radicals reducing inflammation and protecting the skin against sun damage
Our practice offers the options of adding Epidermal Growth Factors, concentrated Hyaluronic Acid, and VC Complex Antioxidants as part of our Facial Rejuvenation Program. Epidermal Growth Factors are a polypeptide (or molecular chain of amino acids) developed to speed wound recovery and stimulate skin growth at the cellular level and may also increase collagen production, though the jury’s still out on this count. Hyaluronic Acid is a powerful Humectant that locks moisture into the tissue keeping it moist and healthy. Humectants are groups of water loving agents, that are referred to as hydrophilic ingredients in skincare. Hyaluronic Acid has potent hydrating capabilities. It can hold, anywhere between 600 and 1000 times its own weight in water, perfect for a parched and dehydrated skin. Hyaluronic acid is a large molecule that typically is too large to penetrate through the epidermis, so the microchannels of RF Microneedle Facial Rejuvenation provide the perfect opportunity to allow the Hyaluronic Acid molecules to pass into the dermis where their hydrophilic capabilites can provide additional fullness to help reduce the aging changes. Finally, antioxidants can be added on completing of the RF Microneedling. External factors such as ultraviolet (UV) radiation, pollution and smoking, as well as internal factors including normal cellular metabolism, can generate molecules called free radicals which are damaging to the skin. Antioxidants “mop up” these free radicals thereby reducing inflammation and protecting the skin against sun damage and skin cancers.

What to know?
A pre-treatment skin consultation is strongly advisable in order to determine if this is the best option for you and to fully inform you about the treatment, considerations, and recovery. Surgical options such as a facelift, neck lift, and/or eyelid surgery and nonsurgical options such as Botox, Fillers, and peels may be considerations as well. On the day of treatment, the treatment area is carefully cleansed and a topical powerful anesthetic cream is applied and left to activate for 30-35 minutes. Once numb, working area by area, the numbing cream is removed, and the entire area is treated. Once the Facial Rejuvenation Microneedle Fractional RF treatment is completed, there is a brief window during which topical Epidermal Growth Factors, concentrated Hyaluronic acid, and/or VC Complex antioxidants can be added to optimize the benefits of the procedure. Finally, the skin is cleansed, a soothing cooling gel is applied, followed by an appropriate sunblock.
Downtime (You should be able to return to work on the same day, but it may be wise to take the rest of the day off or work from home after your very first treatment):
Day 1: Possible erythema and red appearance which varies between people.
Day 2: A red or pink hue persists like a moderate sunburn. Light swelling may be noticeable on waking and usually subsides as the day goes on.
Day 3: Skin may still be slightly pink. The slight swelling has usually subsided.
On subsequent days the skin may feel tight and dry.
You should wait to apply makeup until the next morning. Your normal skin care program can be resumed within 2-3 days. How long does the treatment take? 30 minutes for numbing cream and 20-40 minutes for the Microneedle RF procedure which is dependent on the area to be treated.
While single treatments can be an option, most people will see the best results after 3-4 treatments spaced every 30-45 days apart.
Our practice carries additional skin care products for home use including Stem Cell Regeneration Serum for day time use, Gold Caviar Regeneration Serum for night time use, and LightEyes Age-Defying Serum for day time use for the delicate eyelid areas. Just ask!
